Dr. Robin Berzin is a physician, founder and CEO of Parsley Health, and a leader in advancing functional medicine through a clinician-led care model that helps people understand and take control of their health.
Early in her medical training, Dr. Berzin began to notice a troubling pattern. Patients with ongoing symptoms were cycling through appointments, prescriptions, and referrals, yet many still didn’t feel well. Lab results were often labeled “normal,” not because nothing was wrong, but because clinicians rarely had the time, structure, or training to go deeper.
Functional medicine offered a more complete framework: one that looks at how systems in the body interact and asks why symptoms are happening in the first place. But access was limited, delivery was inconsistent, and outcomes were rarely tracked.
Parsley Health was founded to change that. From the start, Dr. Berzin set out to build a physician-led functional medicine practice focused on real progress you can feel and see, from improvements in energy, mood, and daily functioning to improved outcomes in labs and clinical data over time.
"People are waking up to the fact that another prescription pill is not going to solve the problem. Taking a step back and asking ‘why?’ instead of putting a bandaid on the symptom has never been more critical."
We use our proprietary, clinically-validated Parsley Symptom Index (PSI) to track progress in our care. Parsley members complete the PSI before their first visit and periodically over time. Clinicians use it to guide conversations, monitor progress, and understand how changes in care affect quality of life. Nearly 9 out of 10 members report symptom improvement within their first year of care.
Dr. Berzin believes the future of healthcare will be shaped by both technology and human judgment. As access to health information expands and more people turn to AI-driven tools for guidance, the role of experienced clinicians becomes even more important.
Parsley Health continues to invest in tools that support clinicians and improve patient experience, strengthening and empowering clinicians' ability to deliver the world-class care that has meaningfully improved the health and quality of life of over 50,000 people.
Dr. Berzin is the author of Prescription for Happiness: How to Eat, Move, and Supplement for Peak Mental Health, a science-backed guide that explores how physical health influences mood, energy, focus, and emotional wellbeing.
Drawing on clinical research and her work with thousands of patients, the book introduces a practical 30-day framework rooted in functional medicine. It reflects the same systems-based approach used at Parsley Health, helping people address underlying imbalances and support meaningful improvements in both mental and physical health over time.
