Matcha is the highest quality green tea and it comes in powder form. In the Far East, people have consumed this miracle tea for its amazing benefits and taste for over a thousand years. In the recent years, it has also made its way to being considered one of the most powerful super foods in the West. I say miracle because there is not much it doesn’t do. Matcha green tea is full of antioxidants, including catechins, which are the most potent and beneficial among antioxidants. It also promotes relaxation, boosts memory and concentration, and fortifies the immune system, among other countless benefits.

In this recipe, we use it in a morning protein smoothie along with Parsley’s Rebuild protein powder, bananas, and greens for a hearty, energizing and delicious breakfast. This smoothie will keep you going straight through your morning without a sugar craving, coffee jitters, or a pre-lunch crash.

Ingredients:

1 cup unsweetened non-dairy yogurt (like Anita’s)
¼ cup non-dairy milk
2 cups spinach or mixed baby greens
2 frozen bananas
1 scoop Rebuild vanilla protein powder
¼ cup cashews or almonds
1 tsp matcha powder
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Place milk, yogurt and cashews in the carafe of a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Once smooth, add the remaining ingredients and blend until the mixture reaches desired consistency. Enjoy!
