5 Ways to Beat the Bloat This Valentine’s Day

February 28, 2019

Whether you’re on your own or coupled up, Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays when we all tend to indulge a little too much.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. You can cheat a little, enjoy the chocolate and the cocktails, and still maintain that flat belly you’ve been working so hard for by following these five recommendations from the Parsley Health coaches.

1. Start your day right

Begin your morning with a large glass of warm water with lemon and fresh ginger to provide immediate digestive relief and rehydration.

2. Eat well ahead of time

Go big on fibre-rich foods like vegetables, gluten-free grains and less-sweet fruits like berries prior to your Valentine’s celebration or even during it. These foods increase transit time and decrease your chances of reabsorbing toxic chemicals and excess sugars.

3. Take probiotics and magnesium

So many people come to us complaining of constipation. We often prescribe both probiotics and a magnesium supplement. We like Prescript Assist and Magnesium Citrate – the kind of magnesium that relaxes your gastrointestinal tract and makes you go!  Take them both with a large glass of water when you go to bed.

Learn how we've helped our members reduce prescription drugs by 60%.

4. Tone down the bubbles and booze

Bubbles are gas. Gas causes bloating. At Parsley Health our most frequent recommendation for alcohol is cutting wine and beer altogether, and sticking to vodka, white tequila and mezcal as these forms of alcohol have very little residual sugar or toxins. Even better if you can find organic producers of these alcohols.

5. Commit to a post-V-Day RESET

A gentle reset is one of the best ways to get back to feeling your best and to help you get back on track. It’s easy to reverse the sugar bloat with our 5 Day Clear Mind and Body Reset. This transformative experience comes with a 5-day plant-based meal plan, a daily video with biohacks from Dr. Berzin, and a daily guided meditation.

Parsley Health is the only medical practice that leverages personalized testing with whole body treatments.
