5 Tips for Beating the Winter Blues

At Parsley here in NYC we are pretty much DONE with winter – if you live here you know what we’re talking about.

And this means that a lot of our members are coming in with the winter blues, dry skin and bleary eyes from staring at the JetBlue flight path.

Here are 5 ways to help you fight the winter blues wherever you are – whether you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder like up to 20% of Americans – or you just need a change of perspective without buying a plane ticket, including #5 – a free live workshop at Parsley Health this evening!

1. Morning Sunlight Meditation. Instead of hitting snooze for the 5th time or surfing Facebook, do this 2 minute meditation before you get out of bed in the morning. Close your eyes and picture yourself at the beach or in your favorite sunny, warm, summer destination. Let your entire body resonate with the energy of being there. See yourself walking around, lying on the beach, running or doing what you do. Actually feel it as best you can. Now get up and take this energy with you for the rest of the day.
2. Take Vitamin D3. Vitamin D not only helps you absorb calcium, it is a powerful immune booster that many people are deficient in, especially in winter.  You can come in to see us at Parsley and have your level tested and grab our favorite liquid Vitamin D3 supplement. We recommend 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily for most people.
3. Use Coconut Oil to Fight Dry Skin. Lotions are often filled with preservatives and chemical emulsifiers that make skin feel good without really hydrating. Organic cold pressed oils like coconut and sesame oils are warming hydrating and toxin free.
4.
