Every day, we’re inundated by social media about how to take better care of our bodies—from diets and cleanses to workouts and classes. How do we know what’s true and what’s just a trend?
At Parsley, our members rely on their health coaches to navigate the often-confusing health and wellness field. Selected for their respected credentials from accredited institutions and universities, our expert health coaches support members on their journey to better health while guiding them through a world of wellness that’s overwhelming at the best of times.
Should I become a health coach?
Any Parsley member can attest to the impact of a good health coach—but if you want to become one yourself, you may not know where to start. Which program can you trust? Which one is best designed for your goals? Does it address the growing gap in America’s healthcare system? And in a rapidly growing field, will it give you the edge you need to make a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of others?
Whether you’re an aspiring health coach, a health coach or health professional who wants to elevate your expertise, or simply want to dive deeper into health and wellbeing, your first step starts with mindbodygreen. With its Health Coaching Certification program, mindbodygreen allows you to distinguish yourself as a top-tier health coach at the forefront of holistic wellness in just 20 weeks. This NBHWC-approved program weaves together the highest standards in health coach training with mindbodygreen’s 360-degree approach to wellbeing.
What is health coaching?
Health coaches are trained wellness experts who work with their clients to:
Both Parsley and mindbodygreen believe a well-trained health coach is both a guide and an ally, working with patients to create new healthy habits, let go of unhealthy behaviors, transform health ambitions into realities, and ultimately become their own most powerful advocates.
Health coaching is often more holistic than what can be achieved through visits to a doctor’s office alone, with a focus on integrated wellbeing and a model of connected, ongoing care. The scope of a health coach frequently includes nutrition, movement, stress management, and sleep, but will vary based on what your client needs.
With rates of chronic illness at an all-time high and more people than ever seeking to take control of their health and wellbeing, health coaches are uniquely positioned on the leading edge of healthcare, so it’s no surprise that they have continued to be in such high demand, especially since The New York Times published “We Could All Use a Health Coach ” last year (which shouts out the amazing health coaches at Parsley Health!).
Thoughtfully distilling the latest science-based thinking, mindbodygreen has crafted an educational experience that gives students a robust, relevant, and actionable education without the unnecessary extras. The gold standard in coaching training and one of the few programs backed by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), mindbodygreen’s Health Coaching Certification is also a partner of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
The foundation of the mindbodygreen approach is real-time skill-building—something that all the health knowledge in the world can’t give you. With weekly mock-coaching sessions led by a faculty of world-class professionals who have successfully earned their board credentials and spent hundreds of hours working with clients, the mindbodygreen Health Coaching Program ensures that you’re ready to coach by the time you graduate.
What the mindbodygreen experts say
Jessica Cording, MS, RD, CDN and NY-based health coach, immediately found health coaching complementary to her work as a registered dietician. “The holistic approach of mindbodygreen spoke to how I had been wanting to work with people all along and enabled me to guide my clients more effectively as they build health habits to help them thrive,” she says.
Darshi Shah, NBC-HWC and CNT, calls mindbodygreen’s Health Coaching Certification a unique preparation not only for students to pass the NBHWC board exams, but to have the confidence to thrive as practicing professionals. “Their educational approach goes beyond the traditional,” she says, “to include true skill-building, actual scenarios, and abundant real-time practice.”
