Dr. Bland’s new institute brings together Harvard and Columbia’s top researchers in cancer, the leaders of the Institute for Systems Biology one of the foremost research groups in the US, industry experts from biopharma, and… me:-)
I’m here to talk about wearable technologies (think – the iWatch, Fitbit etc.) and biometrics (meaning the stuff we can measure in the body) and where those two things intersect in 2015 in the era of consumer health.
As you all know I’ve created Parsley to be the most forward looking possible functional medicine platform, one that’s simultaneously a living innovation lab for both new tech and new ways of practicing medicine, where we’ve totally flipped the script when it comes to how we deliver care.
At Parsley anyone who is a New York or California resident can access our medical care 100% virtually through our secure, easy to use video chat platform called Zoom. If you’re not a resident of those states you can see us the first time in person and then have all your other visits be virtual.
Virtual is sexy because it means we are moving your health care out of our office (even out of our hyper cool and beautiful WeWork space office) and into your life wherever you our. Think of your smartphone as your doctor’s office. In person is still sexy too and that’s not going anywhere, but virtual lets you to get care where and when you need it and that is powerful.
At Parsley all of your doctor’s notes, health coach’s notes, labs and records are 100% accessible to you online, 24/7. This is because we believe in a collaborative conversation that equips you to own your own data and your own information.
At Parsley it’s our day job to be experts in how you can optimize your health and wellness but you’re the one who has to live your way to a healthier life. Having full easy mobile access to your information is essential for that to happen.
Parsley has two brilliant, highly qualified data nerds, aka biostatisticians, working with us, to look at everything including our outcomes, our interventions, our scheduling, our pricing, and our member satisfaction rates. I literally don’t know any other functional medicine practice that does this.
We do this because we want to constantly improve, to base our decisions on data not assumptions, and to make our care as cutting edge and smart as possible, while remaining fully human and focused on healing above all else.
Stay tuned. We are excited to build a platform for Parsley that connects your wearables data with your functional medicine team. Give us a minute – this will take time – but our mission is to be game-changing at every stage.
