How to Use Parsley Health While Sailing Around the World

Once a week we hear from real Parsley Health members, in their own words, about how working with us has changed their lives. This week we’re talking to Margie, a 68-year-old traveller, living aboard a sailboat, who came to Parsley out of curiosity and was astonished at the results. This is her story:

My name is Margie Benziger and I am a member of Parsley Health in Los Angeles. I’m 68 years old and live aboard a 47’ sailboat currently in Mexico. Parsley Health is perfect for my lifestyle as I make 3-4 visits to Los Angeles during the year where I can meet with my doctor, Jeffrey Egler and my lifestyle coach, Alyson Roux, in person. When I’m sailing distant shores, I can still keep in touch with them via Skype, cell or satellite phone to discuss my specific health issues.

I came to Parsley Health more out of curiosity than an urgent sense of need. My daughter is a member of Parsley Health in New York. I have seen how changes in her diet and a targeted regimen of supplements, vitamins, exercise and meditation have improved her health dramatically. She encouraged me to join as well. But, the truth was, I thought I was perfectly fine.

You’d say I was living healthy – sailing around the world, swimming, scuba diving and exploring new countries on foot or bicycle; experiencing new cultures and cuisines. However, there were parts of my life that I accepted as “normal” that just weren’t quite right. I was frequently tired, constipated and suffered from insomnia coupled with “restless leg syndrome” and occasional acute leg cramps.

No other doctor had ever bothered to spend enough time with me to thoroughly understand these on-going medical issues before I met Dr. Egler at Parsley Health. Following our conversation and the in-depth lab testing prescribed, I began a three month Parsley diet plan focused on Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free choices combined with Parsley Health’s recommended “medical-grade” vitamins and supplements.

After three months, the changes in my health are undeniable. Beyond the diet and supplements prescribed, I listened to Jeff and Alyson and I am exercising more and meditating a couple times a week. I am sleeping better, no longer experience those annoying and, sometimes, frightening leg spasms and, how do I say this delicately? In terms of constipation, all systems are GO!

Did I mention that I also lost twelve pounds in the process? Frankly, at my age, I didn’t believe it was possible to change my body as much as it has in such a short period of time and without resorting to some sort of fad “Hollywood” diet. But, the truth was right there on the scale in Dr. Egler’s office! Twelve pounds gone!
