It’s our First Birthday today! (cheeer).
We’re celebrating 1 year of existence with a happy-hour party for our members complete with bubbles, candle(s), and all of the cupcakes (GF obvs, duh).
Our team recently had the obligatory ‘reflect on the year gone by before we leap into the bright, limitless abyss” and what we settled on was too good to keep to ourselves.
What follows is our 5 modern wellness power lessons from 1 year at Parsley:
Work smarter not harder.
The sweetest spot is where performance meets balance.Intensity is not the be all and end all we thought it was. A stringent, militant approach to work / diet / exercise/ leisure/ life only sets you up for a vicious cycle of unrealistic targets, failure, punishment, exhaustion, and disease. Out with the old intensity, in with the easy experimentation.
Be your own best experiment.
One of a kind has a whole new meaning. The best evidence for if something is good or bad for you is your own experience of it. Nothing can tell you about your body like experimenting with it does. Become re-sensitized and start figuring out where your own zone lies – the place where you feel your best with the least amount of effort. Which is where we come in.
It takes a village. Officially.
Asking for help is the new brave. To be successful, productive, and powerful takes honesty and open hands that are ready to receive.
(Which is why we’ve made it our business to empower people to prevent and reverse lifestyle-driven chronic disease through community, data, and the support of an expert medical team!)
Forget about ab-strength for now. Mind-strength is where it’s at.
For some, a no-brainer, for others still an issue: You are what you think. We learnt that 1 hour of meditation is worth 10 hours of therapy. Meditation is the only sustainable solution to feeling both grounded, centred and in control and at the same time energized, focused, and efficient. Added bonus: meditation also helps you combat the negative effects of excessive iPhone exposure and improves your brain’s overall processing by increasing its gray-matter density! Yep.
It’s cool to take your rest and recovery seriously.
And you no longer have to hate yourself when you’re hungover either. With sleep time affecting everything from skin health and weight to depression, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular problems, it’s finally okay to prioritize your restful zzz’s over just about anything. At parsley we spend as much (if not more) time fixing sleep hygiene as we do exercise and diet.
We’d love to have you on board and in our community this year! Schedule a free call with someone on our team to find out how Parsley Health can help you be even better.
